Silent Movie

                                                             Silent Movie

Acting skills

For the silent project with Shenagh, we done exercise where we lay down on the floor and closed our eyes while Shenagh gives us instructions of how to realise stress and anxiety.
After, we would be doing warm ups such as going up and down, touch your hands to the floor, squat 3 times, stick your bum up and then slowly go up. This is what we mostly do every Monday to keep us wide awake and energized.
After woods, we would be doing tongue twisters such as "sally sells socks at Sainsburys", etc, in order to help with our pronunciation to Shakespearean old English and also improve our English. After, Shenagh would put me and my classmates in groups and practice the quotes from the characters that Shenagh has picked for us to remember.

However, for the silent movie with Rob, we would first warm up by doing different dances from each person in order to keep us awake and energized.
Then we would get a fake piece of gum and hum with our mouths closed, after he would tell us to stick our tongue out and do some weird sounds. After that we would do some tongue twisters in order to keep our listening on set.
Then Rob would get an random equipment or object and tells us to act out something different other than the object that is there. Rob decided to get a shovel, so I went out there and decided to act out like an old lady with a stick walking slowly and taking her time, I have also pretended that I was skiing.
After that we would play a game, how the game goes is we walked around and when Rob says stop we still walk but when he says go we stay still. Also to make us even more confused he added jump when u have to clap and clap when you actually have to jump.
After we would be around in the white board and Rob would tell us if there is anything we should work on, etc, gain confidence, remember your lines.
Then what ever we need to work on we would  work on it.

Context

Silent movie is when your acting out a scene without talking, it includes face gestures or body posture. E.g. Mr bean, we don't understand what he is saying but he does gestures to make us understand what he is saying. Also Charlie Chaplin is the person who uses gestures and body movements to make people understand what he was doing in the act. This was set in the Victorian times. Chaplin's childhood in London was poverty and hardship, as his father was absent and his mother struggled financially. At 19, he signed to the prestigious fred karno company, which took him to America which is career started to grow. He soon directed his own films and continued to hone his craft. By 1918, he was one of the best-known figures in the world.

Alana decided to open the third door and opened, at first Albiona was scared but when she heard a sound she ran inside and was ready to explore. Alana didn't want to go in the haunted mansion but she went in anyways.
Scene 4: While Henock tried looking for Shadhut, Shadhut tapped him out of nowhere and Henock went straight for a slap. After that they hear a weird sound so they decide to go in, Shadhut didn't want to go in but Henock dragged Shadhut to where the sound was leading to.

P- Problem Solving from the green screen- This is during the rehearsals leading up
to the performance.

 What problems arose?
What problem arose is that they didn't bring the costumes because they either (forgot) or (got stolen).

 How did you deal with them?
They decided to go to there normal cloths for acting the scenes

 Were people absent or late?
Well not really, Henock would normally be late but this time he decided to be on time which was important to all of us as a team.

How did you work as a group?
We worked in Staging, Blocking, costumes, props

 How did that affect the work?
The reason why this would affect the work is because certain people are in certain scenes and we cant replace them because we have been recording the scenes for 4 weeks so no costume can change or no people either

 What did you bring to the piece?
I decided to bring a cliff-hanger to the movie because I would like the audience to think about what would eventually happen next.

 How well did you collaborate with others?
I think it went great, working as a team and giving each other a chance to say what they think they would make the movie not only interesting but also shows how we have different topics every time.

 What ideas did you personally contribute?
I thought of being in a school where there are some students dis obeying what the teacher says or tells them what to do and to make it funny she claps hardly so that the student wakes up frightened.

Evaluation
I was very exited to do green screen, it was my first time having this wonderful experience with working on green screen. I feel like it went great, although there was retakes, it went great!.

P- Problem Solving from the performance- This is during the rehearsals leading up
to the performance.

 What problems arose?
What problem arose is how we didn't really have the props that we were planning to buy and bring.

How did you deal with them?
We decided to rehearse multiple times to get the scenes right.

 Were people absent or late?
No one was late to the performance.

How did you work as a group?
We worked on the fourth wall, projection, talking clearly and costume

How did that affect the work?
I feel like having teamwork and practicing without anyone hating on each other is amazing, we cracked straight to the scenes and practiced multiple times.

What did you bring to the piece?
We decided to bring a cliff-hanger to the performance because I would like the audience to think about what would happen next.

How well did you collaborate with others?
I feel like we have collaborated nicely and respectfully to each other without any arguing and cursing.

What ideas did you personally contribute?
I was thinking about a group of friends just finished school and on there way home they see a haunted house, but they all had hidden powers that they didn't know until a old man approached them and told them to not go in.

Evaluation

As I was about to rehearse, I felt happy and welcome by the Camden peoples theatre staff. Going through the scenes again and again made me even more confident because my memory is not that good. Rehearsing plenty of times and people just watching me made me fully prepared for the up coming show to start. As the show started, I felt a bit nervous so I decided to go out there and make my mum proud.
